Vaginal Rejuvenation

Home > Body > Vaginal Rejuvenation

A woman’s body changes throughout her lifetime, which include the decline of the vaginal lining due to the slowdown of collagen production. When collagen fibers decrease, the walls in the vagina lose their tautness, causing the skin to become loose. Pregnancy, childbirth, age, and genetic disposition can make these more pronounced.

While these changes are normal in women, laxity in the vaginal walls can decrease sensation and satisfaction during sexual intercourse. Unfortunately, the result could also disrupt a woman’s sexual health and confidence.

Advances in cosmetic medicine, however, now offer various options for vaginal rejuvenation. Plastic Surgery Center of Nashville provides a non-surgical treatment that can restore tissue firmness.

Vaginal Rejuvenation with Geneveve™

Geneveve™, developed by Viveve, is a state-of-the-art treatment designed to restore tightness. Unlike other rejuvenation methods, the Geneveve™ procedure works gently in restoring the youthful tautness in the vaginal walls, even with just one treatment session.

Viveve’s Geneveve™ utilizes a patented Cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production safely and successfully. This non-invasive method works at a cellular level, so there is a gradual improvement in tissue tone and strength.

Ideal Candidates for Geneveve Vaginal Rejuvenation

Women who are struggling with laxity can make great candidates for this non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment. The Geneveve™ method is safe for almost all women as it only employs gentle radiofrequency.

Candidates for the Geneveve™ treatment should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcome of this procedure. However, patients with a pacemaker or an automatic implantable cardioverter/defibrillator should avoid this treatment.

Women who would like to schedule a rejuvenation session with us should have a consultation with our nurse, who is a qualified Geneveve™ specialist, or one of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. They will evaluate the patient’s medical history and determine if the Geneveve™ treatment is right for them.

Geneveve™ Procedure

Our nurse specialist will perform the vaginal rejuvenation treatment in our office.  The treatment is quick, lasting about 30 minutes, and does not need anesthetics. Patients will notice a warm or cool sensation during the procedure but should not feel any pain.  During the procedure, the device will emit pulses of monopolar energy, penetrating 3mm to 5mm of connective tissue. This helps stimulate collagen production.

Vaginal Rejuvenation FAQs

Geneveve™ can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Dryness, itching, and pain in the vagina
  • Tissue laxity
  • Urinary incontinence

The treatment itself offers many benefits to women. Geneveve™ is non-surgical, there is no downtime or cutting, and only one 30-minute treatment is needed for most patients.

Geneveve™ uses radio-frequency technology with integrated cooling to treat the vagina. The treatment encourages collagen production in the tissue, which is the protein responsible for keeping our skin healthy and tight. As collagen production increases over time as a result of treatment, the vaginal walls thicken and tighten, providing the benefits associated with genital rejuvenation.
